Cinderella

I'm finally getting around to posting about our weekend. On Saturday, we went to see Grand Rapids Christian High's play "Cinderella". Our friend Katie Elgersma was in the play and that made us even more excited to see it. Anna has been way into princesses lately and Cinderella is her favorite! She wore her Cinderella shirt (instead of her princess dress that she had chosen earlier in the day).

We were able to see Katie (out of costume, but still in makeup) after the play. She did such a great job. We were really impressed with the whole production! It was a fun night.

The play started at 7:30 pm--right at getting-ready-for-bed-time--so we really expected Anna to fall asleep within the first 20 minutes of the play, but she was so interested in all that was going on that she managed to stay awake for the whole thing. She fell asleep in my arms while we were talking to a friend in the parking lot on our way to the car. She'll be talking about this for quite a while now! What a special night!

Speak Softly and...

Almost everywhere Anna goes--the yard, the seminary or college, church, the neighbor's yard--she loves to collect sticks. I'm not really sure why, but that's ok. Sometimes we leave them where we find them, but many times we have to take them home. Today on our way home after having lunch with Matt, we went over to Calvin to look for some pine cones for a future project. Anna found this huge stick (small tree limb) and dragged it all the way home! She looked so cute carrying this stick that's more than twice as tall as she is. The phrase "speak softly and carry a big stick" kept going through my head as we were walking home.
