Millenium Park
My sister and 2 of her girls spent a couple of days with us. After much driving, we made our way to Millenium Park this afternoon. It was so fun to hang out on the beach...

Another Whirlwind Weekend
We are becoming quite the traveling family lately. We headed out to Bellevue, Washington this past weekend. We met some really wonderful people, saw some beautiful scenery, and were very blessed by our visit.
We were given a tour of the area by some lovely people. This is Snoqualmie Falls. It was beautiful.
This is about as much of the sun as we saw most of our time there!
Downtown Seattle is in the background of this photo. We took a ferry ride one evening with some new friends. What an awesome night!
Of course, it was sunny the day we left and I did get to see Mt. Rainier. Matt took this picture from our plane window. We are home feeling very blessed!

It's Official
Time to catch up again! Last week, Matt and his fellow classmates in the MDiv program were presented before Synod (held at Trinity in Palos Heights, IL) and declared candidates for ministry. It was a very exciting and special day. We are so proud of Matt.
I didn't get too many good pictures at the presentation, so this a picture from the reception afterwards.
It was great to see so many friends there! These are the "old guys" and their wives.

After Synod, we were invited to have lunch at Steve's parents' house (they live right down the road from Trinity). We followed this sign to get to their house. (Seminary humor!)

Festival
I guess I'd better catch up on blog entries! The first weekend in June, Grand Rapids holds its annual Festival of the Arts. It's been a highlight for us every year. One of our favorite things to do is have Anna do a little painting. She loves doing it and her paintings have been a lot of fun to have around. It's been very interesting to see her painting skill progression.
Anna's painting at age 2: This was the first painting she ever did! Unfortunately, very shortly after she did this we headed off to take in some of the festival shows and than got caught in a huge thunderstorm. This painting was ruined. I was really crushed! Good thing we go to festival 2 days and Anna got a chance to paint again.
This isn't a great picture of her artwork, but here's what she did at age 3:
At age 4, we found it interesting that her painting style had changed only slightly. She mostly just used A LOT more paint! It was so fun to watch. She tried the two-handed approach and by the end of her painting session, she had ditched the brushes and was using her hands--actually, she was mostly just painting her hands! She had paint all the way up to her elbows! She was very proud of her work, though, and we are very proud of her!
We were very glad that the weather was nice for the weekend. We had a great time and are excited to have another piece of original artwork to add to our collection.
